Rock Rose
Pavonia lasiopetala
A compact Texas native shrub known for its bright pink, hibiscus-like flowers that bloom from spring through fall. The cheerful blooms attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, while the soft gray-green foliage adds texture to sunny, low-water landscapes. Rock rose works well in native gardens, borders, cottage gardens, and pollinator plantings.
Care: Plant in full sun to part shade in well-draining soil. Water regularly while establishing, then reduce watering once the plant is rooted. Rock rose is heat and drought tolerant but may benefit from occasional deep watering during extended dry weather. Trim lightly in late winter or early spring to maintain a fuller shape.
Mature Size: Approximately 2–4 feet tall and wide.
