Lindheimer’s Senna
Senna lindheimeriana
A hardy Texas native perennial with soft, velvety gray-green foliage and clusters of bright yellow flowers from summer into fall. Its late-season blooms provide nectar and pollen for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. Lindheimer’s senna also serves as a host plant for several sulfur butterfly species, making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens, native landscapes, and low-water plantings.
Care: Plant in full sun and well-draining soil. Water regularly while establishing, then reduce watering once rooted. It is highly heat and drought tolerant and performs well in dry, rocky, or alkaline soil. Avoid overwatering, which can cause weak or leggy growth. Cut it back after winter dormancy to encourage fresh, compact growth.
Mature Size: Approximately 3–6 feet tall and 2–5 feet wide.
