Desert Willow ‘Bubba’
Chilopsis linearis ‘Bubba’
A fast-growing, deciduous native tree known for its large, fragrant, burgundy-pink trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom from late spring through summer. Its narrow, willow-like foliage gives it a graceful appearance, while the nectar-rich flowers attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. ‘Bubba’ develops an upright, often multi-trunked form and typically produces fewer seed pods than standard desert willow varieties.
Care: Plant in full sun and well-draining soil. Water regularly while establishing, then provide occasional deep watering during prolonged dry weather. Desert willow is highly heat and drought tolerant once established and should not be overwatered. Prune during winter or early spring to shape the tree or encourage a single-trunk form.
Mature Size: Approximately 20–30 feet tall and wide
